bigtings happpenning
Last night we played a great gig at The Edinburgh Cellers in Stoke Newington. It was a MusicBorn night that is usually held midweek which is good time for laid back acoustic shindigs but it was the pubs one year anniversary so they moved it to Friday. Peeple love to get drunk and shout on Fridays so it was quite difficult for the guys after us to play over the talking, they got a little irate and started to tell the crowd to 'fuck off'... never a good thing really. The last act on, the new resident artist was the Child Rasputin who is a one man electronic band and luckily he had a volume button which he turned up full. If you didn't already know we are nominated for the Indy Music Awards which we are very chuffed and excited about. So we need your vote just click on here http://www.indyawards.co.uk/2008/artist_voting.php?artists=G and vote for us please
Peace out Grizla |
Yo rude boys (and girls),
Just want to let you know about what you want to do on Halloween before you get to booked up with other not so good Halloween offers. After the amazing Wired-Fest last month which played over 40 different acts in one day, IK:TOMS has been asked to put on a Halloween Party at Cross Kings.... and guess what... we get to play woo-hoo. This is deffinately the best up and coming venue we play, i mean, a lot less wanky 'All Bar One' a lot more Style and Substance. so come along. The door is £3 with fancy dress £5 without (but really you should have fancy dress) Satrts at 8, The Cross Kings, 129 York Way, you know behind Kings Cross station. Bring the best pumpkin and win a bottle of champagne.
What more could you want.... maybe this check, out these myspacers to see who in charge and who else is playing.
Sweet Andrew

So more running means more sore legs, Played last night for IK:TOMS at Liberties in Camden, it's a wooden room above a oub which is very useful for sound as the night is a wireless evening, i mean no microphones, no PAs and no sound egineers. I've played there a few times and it's always just a really good thing to do as you realise how good things can sound if the're not pumped through a crappy system.
The other acts we're amazing, Nick Mulvey is the most talented person I've seen, he plays in a classical Spanish guitar style but also put in a lot of African influences, some of his riffs were unbelievabley good. astonishing so check him out
Looking forward to playing Jrink on Firth street next Sunday as a refund for the Fopp gig we had booked before Fopp went flopp. It's a freebie so come along.
Added on here is a new song we've recorded ourselfffs in our cupboard size studio, thanks to my cousin Milly for playing viola

ha ha ha, it's sunny today!!!! grizla have been working out ready for some smouldering gigs in the Autumn, we have added/forced my cousin to add viola to a few of the songs to pump them up a touch, little does she know this is only the start and we expect more backing vocals and piano soon. A couple of neew songs in the set aswell, a sugary sweet one and a mean melon-coli one to balance it out. Our next gig is on Tues28th August at the Water Rats at 328 Grays Inn Road we're on early at 19:30 but there are loads of good acts on so it should be a great night. Rumours go that this is the venue where Coldplay didn't get signed, so it has a history alright. As they say in events/marketing/management/publishing speak "it's shit hot" Andrew Grizla x

"Grizla are better than Miss Saigon" Ms Parina PR Executive
We are on the move... Three gigs this week and a good audiance response. What can be better than people saying we sound like The Smiths, i never really heard it myself and my friends think its some sort of hilarious joke but listen, they are no rules
Next week its the Semi Finals of the Emergenza Battle of the Bands comp, we made it through but this round we need a knock out punch so come and down and cheer us through.
Tonight.....----->

Well its been a long time,
We are back from our Ukelele Tour of Brasil which was smashing, Salvador and coconuts and beaches and SKOL lager and mosquitos and fish BBQ and stray dogs and wild horses and rain and sun and sharing a speed boat with a pregnant woman on the way to the hospital ready to pop and ciparinha/ciparinia/capirhinia and hash cakes and free accom and everything
Since we got back we havent stopped, First gig last week, a small one in Hoxton, the next day we started recording our new demo at Alchema Studios in Islington. It wass a long haul session which only finnished at 6 the next morning, backing vocals done the day after sleeping and it's done. It will take a few weeks to mix but we are all pleased with it, sound frrrrresh So expect to hear some new tunes up soon.
Then last night we played The Warrick in Soho, it's a new weekly showcase run by The Dave Carter Band, twas briliant, it's really difficult to play places with good sound and a good sound egineer and we had both so it was a doodle,
BAD NEWS: Promoters are a slight problem and future events seem to change venues and dates without warning but i always try and change them as soon as I can. Just double check
GOOD NEWS: We made it to the semi-finals of the Emergenza battle of the bands comp. Touch. So come and support us at the Purple Turtle 18th June

The question is
So the question is too difficult, who is the most creative person in history?... Tony Heart or Morph, or are they the same person anyway?????
We played last night at the Grovsnor in Stockwell, not the most charming part of London but it had a nice grubby pub atmosphere, plenty of beer staineed carpet, clapped out PA system, low turn out, lovely Polish barmaid, pork scratchings etc.
Also i forgot to mention last weeks gig at StageB in StokeNewington. A night put up by the freeloaderpromtion guys and it was magnificent.. Everything gets louder, hot and sweaty when you're in underground bars. We really enjoyed that one and will be playing there agian in the summer when it will be even hotter.
I had a warm up slot by Loch Lomond last weekend to test out my new Ukelele set. We're taking a small trip in May on the North Brasil Ukelele Tour'07. Got a few places lined up to play and i can nearly play PyscoKiller/Talking Heads so it should be fun.

So i'm here now... at last.
I'm lying in bed with some chronic Deli-belly watching a program called "Edwardians In Colour" which helpfully is mostly in black and white.
As i emmigrated from Croydon i try to keep to my almost religious declaration never to go south of the river but tommorow I wil have to to play in Brixton. The venue looks like its favourite bands are hi-octane-rockabilly-punk, so we should fit in lovely.
